Waiting on a Full House: Mother's Day - "The Gift of an Ordinary Day" by Katrina Kenison

I've been married to my handsome hubby for 7 years and we have one sweet little boy. We are on the journey of adoption and can't wait to meet the precious baby God has choosen for our family.
I am passionate about so many things, but at the top of the list is God and the study of His amazing book The Bible, my family, any opportunity I get to use my design skills , the challenge of saving money (I am known as "Thrifty Mama" at home), traveling just about anywhere and I'm a wannabe photographer.

Mother's Day - "The Gift of an Ordinary Day" by Katrina Kenison

Happy Belated Mother's Day!

I saw this video and had to share it. Anyone who knows me knows that I am very sentimental about my little one growing up. I always joke that for me everything is a mile stone and I want to freeze the moment to experience it just a little longer. So, when I saw this video it reminded me that it really is all the ordinary things we do each day that I will cherish and before long my little man won't be so little. Enjoy!

Jessica that video clip was beautiful and just about had me bawling! The days do go by so quickly & I know one day soon I'm going to be wondering where my "babies" have gone...the part about crossing the street & reaching out for a hand really got to me! Thanks so much for sharing!

12/8/08 - Started paperwork for adoption placement

12/16/08 - First meeting with our lawyer

12/22/09 - First home study meeting (1 of 3)

1/7/09 - Second home study meeting (2 of 3)

1/26/09 - Final home study meeting (3 of 3)

7/23/09 - We received the call that we have been matched with a birth mother and she will having a baby girl!

7/24/09 - First meeting with our birth mother

9/10/09 - Our adoption placement is discontinued

3/24/10 - We prayed for direction in changing adoption agencies

3/25/10 - We called Bethany Christian Adoption Services

3/30/10 - Attended an informational meeting about Bethany

4/24/10 - We attended a day full of training to start our homestudy process with Bethany

5/14/10 - Attended our final training session

7/8/10 - Homestudy is complete and our profile books finished

7/23/10 - We received a match with a baby girl!!!!

7/27/10 - Met the birthmother and her family. It was such a sweet time!

10/2/10 - Our precious daughter arrived after 28 hours of labor and a last minute c-section. She is beautiful!

Currently - At home with our daughter, Blythe!!!!!

FAQ about our adoption process

Q: Why are you adopting?
A: All the details are in the adoption post "Let the journey
begin!"

Q: What is a homestudy?
A: A home study is a report prepared by a social worker,
which is based on a series of meetings that will take place
between us and a social worker. This is the first step in the adoption process.

Q: Is your adoption domestic or international?
A: We have prayerfully chosen to do a domestic adoption.

Q: How long will you need to wait for your baby?
A: There is really no way to know. We have been told
to expect anywhere from 1-2 years.

Q: How much will the entire adoption cost?
A: Somewhere between $18,000-$25,000.
